City of Encinitas seeks Park Host

The city of Encinitas Parks and Recreation Department is looking for someone to fill a Park Host job at Oakcrest Park after the previous park host retired. The deadline to apply is Friday, January 29th.

The host must agree to be in the park from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. weekdays, and most of the time on weekends. In return, the host is allowed to live rent-free in their maximum 30-foot trailer or RV at a designated spot in the park with full hookups.

The contract is for one year for either an individual or a couple, and can be renewed at the city’s option. The duties of the position include locking and unlocking restrooms and other facilities, keeping logs of activity and reporting problems to city officials or the Sheriff’s Department. The park host is responsible for enforcing some rules, such as no smoking or glass containers.

Oakcrest Park is on the south side of Encinitas Boulevard, 1.6 miles east of Interstate 5, on a grassy hill, with plenty of picnic tables and a built-in barbecue grill. Amenities include a playground and courts for basketball, boccie ball and horseshoe throwing. Dirt trails lead to an observation deck and to the Encinitas Community and Senior Center next door.

Contact Encinitas Parks and Recreation at (760) 633-2740.
